2001 Discovery Electric Hot Water Off Switch
We have a 2001 Fleetwood Discovery 38D. We are unable to find an on/off switch for the hot water tank on the electric side, short of the breaker switch. We know where the propane hot water switch is. Can anyone help us with this? We don't always want to have the hot water tank heating when we are on shore power. Also, can we adjust the temperature on the hot water tank? Would be grateful for any information. Thank you. Elke

They hide them in all sorts of places. Mine was in the bathroom cabinet under the sink. I say was, cause I moved it to the exterior of the cabinet for easier access and also installed an indicator light to remind me it is on.
It may look like a residential light switch, or at least a heftier switch than the usual small ones for 12v items.
You have an Atwood water heater and the temp is not adjustable. It is a fixed thermostat in both gas and electric modes.

We had a Montana 5th wheel with a Suburban water heater. The switch was on the water heater itself on the outside of the trailer.

Ours is inside the bottom kitchen cabinets under the sink.

The Discovery has an Atwood heater, so no need to worry about the tank switch like the Suburban has.

Gary the temp thermostat on the propane can be changed. You can contact the manuf. and They can send you a 120 deg. or a 140 deg. thermostat.

My MH didn't have a switch for 110v to water heater so I installed one.

I know the heater t-stat can be changed out for a different one- I've done that on a previous coach. I merely stated that the one they have is fixed rather than adjustable.
Fleetwood Class A's always have a heater switch - it's just a matter of finding where they hid it. Somebody here must have A Discovery or that vintage or close to it and can give Bill a clue where to look.
Note: I added "2001 Discovery" to the thread title in hopes it will attract another Discovery owner to help out.

I have a 2001.5 Discovery 37U, which has a 50 amp electrical system. That said, the 15 amp circut breaker for the electric element on my 10 gal. Atwood is located under the refrigerator. There's a hinged wooden access panel which hides the breaker panel. One has to simply grasp the upper edge of the panel and give a good pull.
In addition to the 15 amp breaker, there's a ECO (Emergency Cut Off) switch located on the back of the water heater. There's a re-set button on the ECO.
Here's a pic of the access panel!

Her's a pic of the actual breaker panel showing the 15 amp breaker!

And that circuit breaker is the only shut off for the water heater? Unusual - I have owned several Fleetwood coaches and all had an on/off switch in addition to the main circuit breaker.

Gary:
Other than the circut breaker and ECO reset button there is no other switch in the electrical circut for the WH. There is a on/off switch for the gas portion of the heater which is in the control panel located directly above the drivers seat.

We have an on/off switch that works either the microwave or the electric water heater. I know this is a simple answer and would assume you would know if you had one unless the couch was new to you. Our switch is located close to the sink.

Thanks to all for your responses. We ended up taking our motor home to Camping World in Wilsonville. The heating element in our hot water tank needed to be replaced. They also looked for the on/off switch for the electric side of the water heater and found it somewhere under the motor home where the water heater is located - a hard to get at place. Could not find another switch and they looked in all sorts of places. The switch on the EMS is for the propane side of the water heater. Thanks again to all for your help!!
