Hello to all; Working on the "get ready and fix" list. The unit would NOT come on when lifting the lid. So, plugged it in to my shop power, and it works great! But, the outlet in the compartment is not live. I pugged a radio into that outlet and started cking for tripped breakers. Only breakers I can find are under the fridge. all are good. Could there be any breakers other places? Anyone else had this happen with their vacuum? Thanks Bobmn

Look for a GFI breaker needing to be reset, or the GFI circut for the bath or kitchen may be used to power the vac and might be tripped.

lifting the lid does not turn on most central vacs, that technology was abandoned in the 60's you have to have the hose in the outlet, notice the metel ring on the fitting that completes a 24 volt circuit that closes a relay that powers the 110v

Ditto on the gfi. Lifting the lid does control the vac in my 2007 bounder diesel. My Gfi is on the side of the bed next to the engine heater switch. However, if it is the gfi then, other outlets in the rear of the coach should not be working.

Not really. I just put a brand new dirt devil central vac in ours and the lid has a small contact switch that turns the vac on when lifted. Both type of outlets are readily available.

To the OP. As others have stated, there is probably a gfi tripped. Look at the outlet the vac is plugged into. If there is a tiny rectangular push switch, that is the gfi breaker. Push it in. They pop out easily for no apparent reason.

On our AC Allegiance, the vacuum comes on when the lid is raised. As for cb locations...they are all over they place...good luck with the GFI.

For our central vac to work, I have to be plugged in, or run my generator.

I think that's a given, since we're talking about power to a 110 v outlet. But when it comes to troubleshooting with humans, you never know. LOL.

True.......but I can run everything on my 2 inverters with the exception of my air conditioners and central vac.

Thanks to all! You know the older you get.......It was the breaker in the bathroom!! I missed that one! We had to order a new hose and some bags, so we are waiting for those to arrive. Now to finish up the other compartment door. The alum. edge was bad....just the edge. The damage was on the door before this one. i fixed the 26" groove in that door, and I finally painted it, and rehung it. I had to call Fleetwood Parts, to order the trim peace. It only comes 10' long. They ship it in a abs pipe, which worked good. Then, you have to cut to fit and do the latch hole. Lots of cutting, filling, etc. Then painting....Of course, the two tone paint stripe, runs on the top of this strip. That means painting twice. Instead of getting a gun dirty, I had a pint of paint put into spray cans...you get 4 cans. Also done the rear "bumper" Thanks to all again... this is a grt site. Bobmn
