2002 American Eagle not level after air bags filled

My left rear sits about 4"-5" higher than the right rear after bags are aired up and sitting on a level surface. This happened about a year ago while it was at the factory and an on-site Spartan Chassis Tech repaired it, but it's happening again. I am traveling with the MH right now and do not have the repair ticket on me to see what he did to correct it. Anybody know what causes this? Thanks in advance.

Kevin

There is a height sensing valve. It puts air in the bags until it gets to the right height and then shuts of the air. The sense rod probably slipped. and is putting too much air in the bag or the other one is not putting enough in.

You need to get this taken care of right away. One side of your coach is carrying too much weight.

Got under there yesterday and saw the valves you are talking about. I'll air it up today and see what it takes to adjust it. Thanks for the info...

I believe there are two ride height valves on the rear axle and one on the front. The ride height really should be adjusted by the Chassis Manufacturer as these specs. are very specific to your coach and can affect other areas of performance as well. If you contact the Manufacturer I'm sure they'll have a record of service using your VIN #? Any authorized Dealer can take care of this for you ... we had ours done a few weeks back and it really does make a difference.

It is a common problem on your model of Spartan chassis for the rods to come loose. The end of the rod sticks in a rubber grommet and over time the rubber cracks. I used to carry extra grommets so I wouldn't be stranded on the side of a road. You can usually pop it back in place for a temperary fix, but be careful working under the chassis. You don't want to deflated the air bags and drop the chassis on you. If you have an ERS call them and ask for a technician to come and fix it. If you drive it that way it can damage the chassis and drivetrain.
