2003 13 ½’ Front Slide, Changing Floor, HELP

I have a 2003 Pace Arrow with carpet in the front section. I would like to install either wood or a composite floor on a flush floor mount slide. My front-slide slides on carpet then lowers down to be flush with the coach when it is fully extended. If I replace the carpet with a wood/composite floor, the bottom of the slide will scratch or mar the new floor.

If I would install some 4 X 4” size ceramic tiles strips on the subfloor parallel to the edge where the slide travels on the main floor. This way most of the weight of the slide will travel on the ceramic tile, and this will aid in avoiding any scratches/marring of my new floor. To help support the slide floor from sagging, I was thinking about using two ¼” X 3” wide cutting board poly material strips, gluing and spacing them strategic to the bottom of the slide. This way, there will be 4 places where the slide will ride on the ceramic tiles when extending/extracting. After I adhere the ceramic tile to the subfloor, then I would cut the new floor to fit between the ceramic strips.

What do you think? Will that work to keep the slide from touching the new floor and possible scratching it? Give me your thoughts? Thank You in advance for any assistance or ideas.

The slide rollers have a tendency to crack tiles. A friend is replacing tiles every couple of years on his factory tile floor.

There was a post a while back , where the member used , foam backed aluminum strips across the hardwood to prevent scratching from the slide rollers.
I'll see if I can track down the post with pictures of his set up.

Ok here's a post for you to look at and a picture from another post , that I'll try and trace to the original member. The floor protection lifts up after the slide is out .
