My neighbor here in the campground has a204 Pace Arrow 37C, with two a/c units on a 30A rig. It has the energy mgm't system that in the past has allowed him to use both a/cs much of the time. Now the rear a/c compressor no longer ever cycles on (but the fans run OK). Supposedly this is the case even with the front a/c powered off,but I haven't verified that myself.
Has anybody out there experienced a similar problem with the Pace Energy Mgm't system? Any clues as to what might be wrong? It could of course also be an a/c unit failure, but he is hoping it is something simpler.

I too have had problems, although not the same as yours. When I try and run both AC units, after a short time it always trips the breaker. The Energy Management System is a poor setup if you ask me. I wished I had a 50 amp setup, but I don't think they offered this in '04.

Thanks for the sugestions - I'll help my neighbor check it out.
wa0mqe...
If you are tripping breakers, there are two possibilities: (1) The Energy Mgm't is NOT working or (2) you are running really close to 30A and another, non-managed power use is pushing you over the limit. You have numerous small loads that are not switched by Energy Mgm't and the total of these can get surprisingly large.

What caught my eye was the mention of the AC fan working but not the compressor part.
I have a different brand coach, but probably a similar EMS system, and mine will cut the AC off completely (compressor AND fan) if overloaded. If that's the case, I'd start looking at the AC itself and/or thermostat and wiring.
HTH,
Ron

Not sure, Ronboc. The System on our old 96 Southwind let the fans run and merely inhibited compressor start. Not sure if this 2004 Pace system is that way or not. Can another 2004 Pace owner say yea or nay?

I have a 2003 Pace Arrow with the 30A main and EMS. Mine will cut out compressors seperately from the fan to shed some of the load.
I also had a rear a/c that would run the fan but not the compressor, had a slight 'electrical' smell, turned out the compressor had failed requiring replacement. I replaced it with a new 15k Coleman Mach III (was a 13.5) and the current draw on the new 15k is less than the 13.5's.
FYI - I am pretty sure my rear AC was killed by either low voltage or a spike in the campground we were staying in. I now have a hardwired surge supressor...

The 2004 energy management on my 37C just inhibits the compressor. The fan control is not handled by the energy management.

Thanks, r2dillon. That's what I thought it did.
And thanks to js5346 too - I'm beginning to suspect my pal has the same problem you did. However, we want to exhaust the othe rpossibilties before looking at the most expensive one!

Anyone know what this test switch does? What should it do if I use the switch?

Is it necessary to open/remove the cover of this black box to access the test switch?
