Our living room slide would start to come in but would stop at the point where it had to lift up. My service center contacted Fleetwood and they said they were aware of this problem. They had to place three blocks under the slide to keep it from dropping down so low when it was out. Fleetwood provided these blocks. This has fixed the problem. I would like to say that Fleetwood was gracious enough to take care of this problem even though we were out of warranty. Also Richards RV Servicenter in Duncan S.C. were not only great to work with, they did great work.

MaxRT, Glad your problem was resolved but would you happen to have the part numbers of the blocks they installed?

The item# is 507559. They are called "lift blocks". You will probably need your FIN # as well. Hope this helps.

I have read Maxrt's post about his slide problem. I have a 2008 Fleetwood bounder. The slide will not come in. I am certain that I need the lift blocks. Fleetwood is now calling this a UPGRADE and is trying to charge me for the blocks and the labor to install the blocks. I understand that Fleetwood is under new ownership I feel like they should cover this and/or the dealership should help as well. Do you think I will get farther If if call fleetwood myself? Thanks

Sorry to hear about your problem. I have a 2008 35e and was under the impression that this was limited to 2006/2007 model years. I will follow your progress as I was told by the new fleetwood that they will only honor first year warranties and no recalls what so ever.

Keep us posted and good luck. And if in fact you have to pay for it , I'd be interested to know how much they charge you.

I forgot to tell you, that I've done a considerable amount of research on this topic. I appears that power gear came out with a new High Torque Motor to fix this problem. The part # is 1010000010. I have this new motor on mine. You may want to check the part # on yours as a start. Also if you send me an email , I will foward the bulletin from Fleetwood outlining how to install these nylon blocks. The blocks are only $40.00 but the labor is about 4-5 hours. The motor is about $500.00. Also it may just be your motor and not the blocks. If you get water in the rubber boot it corrodes the brake and will not release it to bring in the room.

I hope your problem turns out to be minor, as I said in previous post , this problem was supposed to be resolved in 2008 models. Yours is the first 2008 that I've heard of.

They want to replace the motor now because it is weak. I just dont want to keep going down this road every couple of years. Fleetwood did say that the lift blocks were recomend for slides with refrigerators. I will check on the high torque motor. My email is jossj@tds.net The slide does operate just needs a push to get it over the starting point

I have a 2007 35E and have had the slide stuck out. I took as much weight off of the slide as I could and two of us pushed on it while my wife hit the retract switch. I've also had problems with my Power Gear levelers. All the boots needed replacement along with a board. I'm very disappointed with both Fleetwood and Power Gear. What's worse is that it made it through the warrenty period but after that problems occur.

Dick

Thanks for the input. I have a 2008 35e and have seen this problem discussed before. Apparently they fixed it in 2008 (????) with a larger motor on that slide. I'm curious on what you have done to prevent future problems and how did you push that slide in as it has to come up first and then in?

Just looking to be prepared if they didn't fix mine in time as I have an early 2008. I also had the water in the boot problem on driver rear. They replaced that motor and metal clamped and siliconed the other boots.

Mine is in the shop for leveler and slide problems. This is a major design flaw with both. I beleive both are PowerGear. There should have been a recall on both of these items. Many people are having the same problems. Either Fleetwood went cheap or PowerGear makes junk. Some people were lucky enough to have them fixed under warranty. Unfortunately I was not that lucky. I will make sure my next Motorhome is not from Fleetwood and will not have any PowerGear components installed on it.
