2008 Pace Arrow w24 fuel pump relay failure

Any body have any ideas why my rv burns up a fuel pump relay about every 2500 miles. Works fine while driving, pulled up to fuel up shut it off and it would not start. Replaced the relay fired right up and off we went. It did this three times so far. Seems the work great, gives no sign its going to fail. Any body have any ideas?

if your fuel pump is weak, and pulling more power than it should be in order to operate, it could lead to premature relay failure I suppose. Usually the pump just dies though.

Are the relays hot? Scorched? Anything to indicate if it is shorted, or overloaded?

I wonder if the relay in question might not be too weak for the job. Best to get people with the same chassis year/model to check their relay specs and compare yours to see if its same. Good place to start.

I can tell you what I checked. First I changed the fuel filter. then I I checked the amps that the fuel pump drew. It was within spec. I noticed after I checked the fuel pump amps at the fuse that the clamps that held the fuse in the socket where stretched out and the fuse was loose. So I went about fixing them so the clamped tight. After that I pulled the relay and noticed that there where sockets in the relay socket that had been widened out also. i tightened them up and replaced the relay and it has not burned up any since. I also was having a problem with vapor lock or stalling which I fixed by covering the fuel line back by the left muffler. I also wrapped the muffler and that problem disappeared. let me know what you find.
