if your fuel pump is weak, and pulling more power than it should be in order to operate, it could lead to premature relay failure I suppose. Usually the pump just dies though.
Are the relays hot? Scorched? Anything to indicate if it is shorted, or overloaded?
I wonder if the relay in question might not be too weak for the job. Best to get people with the same chassis year/model to check their relay specs and compare yours to see if its same. Good place to start.
