I've been reading all the archives about problems with the PowerGear Electric levelling systems. All I can say is wow, great service, and wow the archives are great.

My problem isn't one of not extending or not being able to retract. All that works perfectly.

It also levels great (although i think I need to re-zero it).

The problem is, that over night it "settles" for lack of a better term and falls out of level.

Anyone had that problem? What would cause it? The pad it is sitting on not overly level so the front is probably 2 or 3" higher than the rear, but it seems that the system would be able to handle that?

When u say settles ? Is mother earth sinking ? Check your fluid level ?

I have had problems with mine front one replaced 2x in one year. Keep us posted as things develop.

do the electric jacks have a fluid level. I'm not sure how they work so, being electric, I assumed it was a motor power a jack screw of some sort...am I wrong on this.

The earth isn't settling, all 4 jacks are on a concrete pad.

common problem fleetwood calls it bump in the night expansion and retraction of the hydrolic fluid.

Hi Aaron,

Your electric PG jacks may settle if each jack is not in the "locked position." Check the jack brake lever for correct position which you will find in your manual.

Clifftall..thanks for the link...I have a Safari/Cheetah and don't believe mine is electric.. But it was good to see the make up and different parts.

AJ... look for a reservoir/canister in the lower rear part of your coach mine is on the curbside. Not sure where Fleetwood put theirs.

Thanks for the info guys. I will look at the brakes and see if I see anything. Interesting it seems to be my front levelers, not the rear, which are the ones I read about problems!

I will get underneath on monday afternoon and see if I see anything out of place!

Is the problem with just one jack or both front jacks? If the brake levers on the jack motors inside the rubber motor boots are in the correct position then I would say that the motor brake solenoid wires could possibly be damaged or for some reason not getting voltage to the brake which engages the motor brake.
A while back I got water in one of my motor brakes and disassembled to clean out the moisture, upon reassembly I pinched and broke one of the motor brake wires and that jack would settle since the motor brake could not energize to stop the motor from turning.
Also you might check all the connections at the main control unit which should be located on the ceiling of one of your underneath storage bays, mine is on the drivers side in compartment in front of the sewer compartment.

well the problem only seems to be when i use the autolevel. I spent some time messing with it last week.

It doesn't settle any, however it seems to if I use the auto. When I switched to manual and then levelled it, it's fine and stayed that way for a week.

I'm going to reset the zero during my next visit, we'll see how that goes.

By the way folks, the brakes are defaulted to be on (assuming the manual lever is set correctly). So if you are missing a wire, it will not Dis engage. The problem has been that they have rusted and the power does not allow them to dis engage
