I have a new to me rev. and was not given a real good walk thru by the dealer I bought it from. as a result I didn't know little things llike how to turn coach power off , switch from gas to electric on the hot water heater or for that matter how to turn the head lights on and off. I have figured out most these things by now but in the process I appear to have lost power to the house unless I am plugged in to shore power. If I leave it plugged in will the batteries build back up the way they did on my old coach or is this a sign of more serious problems. I have 3 brand new batteries.

Fleetwood uses a staged battery charging system. It will charge both battery banks when connected to shore, gen and or engine power. There are lots of battery threads on the forum. You said 3 new batteries. I think that the best advice has been to replace all the batteries on a bank at the same time. You have 2 starting batteries and some even combination of house batteries (4 6 or 8).

pcurt you are right there are 4 batteries. All are new, no corrision on the terminal, so what would have caused them to go down with out being plugged in for a couple of weeks?.
Or was it just because I had left some things on until I found the house turn off, ie the reefer, microwave, hot water heater ect.

You may have lost the connection between the house batteries and the 12v system. Your inverter/charger is working cause you have 12v from shore power, but not from batteries. Leave it plugged in for 24 hours with the battery disconnect switch on (power available) and see if the house batteries charge up again. If not, you may have blown one of the big main fuses for the batteries. Mine has a 300A and 100A battery fuse.

Yes, your house batteries can run down in two weeks. Mine don't last even that long - my American Tradition is a real power hog. There are several things that have a small constant power draw, e.g. fridge, water heater & furnace circuit boards, LP detector, CO detector, satellite dome, tv antenna amp, etc.

You switch that says store and use turns coach off. Turn you coach on ( use) plug it in and look at your charger readout and see if it is charging. You should have 4 house and 2 start batteries, if you don't replace all in the battery bank it only as good as the weakest battery. You will boil the old one and starve the new ones. If your batteries are totally dead you may not have enough voltage to activate switch.

The swith is on and shows charging. The 4 batteries are all new according to the dealer. So I guess that I had just left something on with out being plugged in. Does this mean thaat I need to leave it pluged in when I am not using it, kinda sounds like but thaat is no big deal

Mine is not plugged in when not using it a month at the time and will only lose a couple of tenths of a volt with house and engine switch off. If they die with every thing off within a few days or a week You may have a battery problem. Try to find battery dates and make sure they all match just to make sure they are new.

You also should have a master on/off switch in the back engine compartment. It will shut all power off to the coach, good for extended storage.

My coach will only last 4 weeks even with all of the power shut off. I also found that the inverter will drain the battery even with both battery switches off. So now I turn off all three: main, house, and inverter and that gets me 4 weeks between battery charges. I also learned that it is almost impossible to jump start a diesel. But you can jump start the generator and charge the batteries then start the coach.
