2010 Bounder 33U entry steps

I find it annoying that every time you open or close the door the steps extend or retract. It seems to me to be a lot of usage on the step motor if you are stationary for a while. What I would like to do is splice an on/off switch into the sensing unit wiring that is fixed to the coach door frame to allow me to disconnect the sensing unit when I am parked and thus stop the steps from extending or retracting. I realize this could allow me to drive the coach with the steps extended if I forgot to flip the switch but it would stop the annoying operation when not needed.
Can anyone see a fault in my theory and if so I would appreciate your comments.

Our 2006 Bounder had such a switch. It was on the bank of switches located on the kitchen cabinet going down the entry steps.

I would be surprised there's no such switch, located somewhere, on yours.

Our 06 Bounder has a switch on the dash near the entrance to allow that.

Thanks Lori. After doing some research on the Kwiki steps I noticed that just about all of them had an automatic function built in. Checked my coach and sure enough there is a switch at the door that does exactly what I wanted but labeled wrong. Switch label said Entry and I assumed it was for a light @nd didn’t check it. Thumb in bum, mind in neutral !

Glad you found it. Ours was labeled Step, so it's no wonder you didn't realize what it was.
