You should hear a definite click when the switch is pushed, but you need to also hold the switch depressed while you are trying to start the vehicle. It's only a momentary switch. ON while you hold it only.

I tried to use the aux start today. I held down the aux start switch for about 15 seconds and turned the key to start. It started. I noted that the engine battery was at 12.8v and I did not hear a click. Does the engine battery have to be low, say below 12v, for the aux start switch to click and be used to start the engine?

If the engine battery is NOT low enough to prevent starting, how would you expect to determine if the aux start switch was helping or not?

You need to perform a test that will tell you if the relay closes or not.

With the coach unplugged from shore power, check and record the voltage reading on both the house and chassis batteries. They will be different. Have someone (wife, friend, sexy sister in law, etc.) hold the Aux Start switch ON while you check the voltage on each battery. If the House and Chassis batteries now read exactly the same, you can assume the switch and relay are working.
