I have windshield and side shades, but I don't use the side shades to much, I just close the drapes up to the windshield.
No snaps, just some very powerful magnets. The first time set up will take two people because the magnets have to be put in place on the inside. What I did was have DW on the inside, told her where to put the magnet in the top corner (I prefer to work right to left) when I put the shade up. She did and the two magnets held, then we continued with the rest of the magnets. Once everything was in place, I let the shade sit like that for a while in the sun. This helps and the outside can be "tweaked" to get a tight shade. Then just go inside, mark where the magnets are with a felt tip, take the magnet down, remove the sticky backing tape, put the magnet back up where the mark is. When you remove the magnet on the inside to stick it on permanently you will have the front one drop down, just go outside after sticking the inside one and using the "stick" put it back in place. Then just do the other magnets. All told, the first time can be about 30 minutes. After that it is only 30 seconds to install the screen.
I never have worried about rain. If wet, I just shake it out, roll it up, and put them into the carrying case. Next stop they come out and go up and will dry out fast, if they are still wet. Like any "shade," I feel keeping them clean is a must, so when I unroll them and store them I do it on the bed, not on the picnic table or ground. But that's me. Oh, to clean them, just use the same process as if you were washing the MH, and rinse good. The washing is done while they are in-place.
The exterior shade is much superior in keeping the heat out, and black is the best option. The lighter the color the more heat transfer. (Yes, it is just opposite of what you would expect, but it is not reflection, but absorption that is the factor - or something like that.)
Talk to Roger Hunckler. I believe he has had others as a "first time" and he instructed them on how to get a template. Or, take a nice drive to NC and let them do the measuring. Lot's to see along the way, and the return trip.
I did not think the price was to high considering the end product.

Thanks for the info, Wayne. I agree that the Magne shades look like a quality product. Maybe we will try just the windshield cover first and see how that works for us. I have watched the videos on their website and it appears that the shades are simple to install once the magnets are in place. I appreciate your input.

We have the windshield and the front side windows next to the driver's and passenger's seats. Windshield magnets go on the inside, side window magnets go on the outside. They are very nice but somewhat expensive. Another problem is that it appears to be a one man operation and are very busy.

How "visible" are the inside magnets when the covers are off? Do they look tacky from the outside of the coach?

Just my 2 cents. I was just about to order the Magne Shade. It looked like a quality product and I really wanted something I did not need the ladder to put up. Then I saw a couple of coaches that had the Prompt sunscreens installed. No ladder and a much better price. I've been very pleased.

The folks at Magna-Shade can make up a pattern for you. That's what they did for me. Fit's like a dream and the install after the initial set-up is a no brainer.

I did not put the side window magnets on the ouside, I put them on the inside and I have no problem. Having the actual screen on the outside will be better for heat reduction than having them on the inside. I don't have a problem opening the window, and that is going to depend on your window configuration.
As I stated earlier, I just draw the drapes from the side to the window post if the sun is beating down that way. Sometimes, in real high heat areas i will put up the side shades.
Good luck.
p.s., as stated, Roger and Clare will work with you. Give Roger a Call. He was out at Quartzite. It's possible he could be traveling back this way to head home.

Thanks for your input. I can't find any videos of how those are installed. I'm not sure about those clips and suction cups. What was the price difference between the Prompt and Magne? Thanks.

Well, I found a "DIY" solution. Not sure I want to put those big screws into the front of my Bounder!!

Can anyone comment on the DURABILITY of each brand of sunshade? Has anyone had their Magne Shades for several years? How does the fabric hold up over time, and do the magnets eventually let go and need replacing? Any comments will be appreciated, for any brand of shade. Thanks.

Thanks, for any responses!

Troy,
Contact Roger Hunkler. He stated that he can get patterns made from a dealer coach so there is no problem.
Good luck - It is a very nice product.
Edited: I just looked at your profile and you are in Charlotte, NC. and Magne Shade is in Mocksville, NC. That is 61 miles down the road. You could be down there by lunch and back by dinner. Make Roger by dinner. (ha ha!) He'll just tack it on to the bill.

When Roger made mine he didn't have a pattern for the Providence so he had me make one by drawing around the windshield on pttern paper, taking a couple of measurements and sending it to him. Worked out great.

I couldn't find any videos of the Prompt sunscreen installation either. That was a problem for me and I was about to order the Magne Shade because I found a number of online videos and good reviews. Then I ran into a couple of people who had the Prompt screens and I was able to take a first hand look and liked what I saw.
When I first got the sunscreens I asked DW if she would come out to give me a hand putting them up the first time. She went to put on her shoes and by the time she came out I had them up already. I was very pleasantly surprised at the ease of even the initial installation.
As far as the clips and suction cups, the web site once again does not explain to my satisfaction how they work. But it could not have been easier. The front screen has a suction cup on one end and a clip on the other. It hasn't come off yet. The two side covers each have a suction cup and one of those came off a couple of times until I cleaned the area where it goes and then it held strong, even in strong winds.
As for price difference, the Prompt screen was $430 delivered. The Magne Shade quote was $870 for the same coverage delivered.
The Magne Shade looked to be a good, high quality product but I couldn't be more happy with my choice at half the cost.

Many, if not most, won't notice the magnets unless I point them out. After a short bit of time, you'll even forget they're there.
All of our magnets are on the inside of the coach, including the side window shades.
The material seems very durable, but only time will tell. I have some wheel covers made out of the same material, in a very light color, and they tend to collect dirt and black marks (on the back side) from the tires. I've been just using a mild spray cleaner to wipe them off with good results.
