2016 Bounder Experience
Thought I’ld start a thread for 2016 new Bounder owners to post their experiences with their new coaches. We’ve traded a 2014 35K for a 2016 30th Anniversary 6 Speed 35K. Our experience with the Factory Service Center has been very positive it’s one of the reasons we’re getting another Bounder. Part of our purchase plan is making an appointment at the service center in July when we pass close by on the way back from MI.
At this time our only time behind the wheel of the new coach was the test drive and the 200 miles drive home from the dealer. The new 6 speed chassis out performs the older 5 speed in every way we can measure so far, especially interior noise levels. The coach we traded had the 5 Star tune and while that helped the 2016 coach still outperforms it everywhere.
Issues:
Waste water drain did not line up with the service compartment opening, dealer corrected prior to pick up.
No seperate fresh water opening in the service compartment, dealer added a separate access panel
Water leak over Hide a loft, dealer found the Winneguard cables not properly sealed, corrected and ordered a new mattress from Fleetwood.
Fresh water fitting on toilet not properly connected pumped appx 10 gallons of water inside the coach. Dealer fixed leak and dried inside of coach, Fleetwood aware of issue and will replace the floor at service center.
On drive home check engine light came on, Local Ford dealer assigned me an excellent technician, we went for a test drive together with the diagnostic equipment connected to the coach, 2 cylinders were misfiring, Tech replaced 2 sparkplugs and noticed a lot of moisture around the coil packs, he removed all the coil packs dried them and added dielectric grease, test drive no more misfires. (Only way water could have gotten there was before the coach body was added to the chassis. I’ve seen the chassis stored out in the open at the factory prior to final assembly, they need to do a better job protecting the componets from moisture prior to assembly)
Hide a loft lower limit switch was knocked off by a screw in the track it runs in. Dealer sent a tech to campsite and they remounted the switch. It broke off again about 3 cycles later. I purchased a switch reinstalled it and countersunk the offending screw.
Outside entertainment center flooded during a sideways rain, At home in the driveway after a very intense storm I found water inside the coach, after removing one of the galley drawers I saw water dripping from the outside entertainment center. TV, DVD player and speakers were soaked. Next morning I found an area about 3” long on the top of the entertainment center where it meets the outer wall of the coach that was not sealed. I applied caulk to the area and leak tested with a hose leak fixed, Dealer will replace the TV, DVD player and speakers at their location next month when I’m on my way to FL.
L shaped sofa in coach tearing the fabric when extending the extension, Fleetwood notified will correct at service center.
We expect things on a new coach biggest disappointment was the water leaks. Dealer has done a good job supporting the coach so far, No regrets
I have applied Mouse Free to the coach, for rust proofing the undercarriage and it works great at keeping vermin out too.

Nice post. Sounds like you're having a few normal and a few not so normal issues . Glad to hear that your Dealer and FW. are taking good care of you.

z3406,
On the sofa, when fully extended, pry the cushions apart with your hands in the area of fabric chaffing where it slides back in.Look in there with a flashlight, you will see a 3/8 bolt that is too long where they bolt the frame work togeather. That was the culprit on mine ,I removed the bolt and installed a bolt that was 1" shorter,Fixed the problem. The dopes at the dealership said(we'll just cut the exess threads with a sawzall!!!)I envisioned the results in my mind for a millisecond, pictured shooting a sparrow with a 20 gauge=same results, said no thanks ,never been back.Since nov 2012 I have repaired 67 items on my coach, and have made 13 upgrades to it this year. I keep a record of every last thing, way too much to remember .Finally starting to enjoy the beast.

The fabric is already damaged on this one. The same thing happened on my 14 and Fleetwood replaced the damaged section when the coach was at the service center. I'll look for the offending bolt you mentioned and check it out. On my 2014 coach I brought over 50 items to the attention of my service adviser, no quibbeling, no second guessing if it was not right they fixed it.

Al, good post. I have the same thing on my couch. It was after several times I saw the small flat bracket that goes out over the edge to stop that from happening. Pic below shows the wear and the flat latch I found. Does yours have one of these?
Also, what do you mean fresh water opening? Below is my valve setup (which is bad and not working properly) My pump runs all the time in every position except "CITY". even in city it is pulling water from the fresh water tank which from the factory understanding and the diagram of the 4 way valve it should not do:
Overall I have 30 items on my list for the factory to look at. The two biggest are the awning that stopped working and the XM antenna fault. The rest is pretty minor stuff but should be corrected by the factory

Fresh Water opening= There was no place in the service compartment for a fresh water hose to enter. The only opening to the outside with the door closed was the black water drain hatch. The dealer added a small screw in type hatch just below the fresh water input panel.
With the water valve in the city position pressurized city water should enter the coach without the pump being turned on. Normal is the pump having access to the fresh water tank, ie with the pump being turned on it will pull water from the tank. The other 2 positions are to fill the fresh water tank from a hose connected to the fresh water tank and the last one will allow the pump to pull antifreeze from the fresh water hose input, to do the latter you need a piece of hose with the male attachment about 2 feet long that you stick in a jug of antifreeze.
With the valve in normal and the pump turned on it should run until it hits a set pressure and then shut off until the pressure drops. Pump should only run if there is a demand for water somewhere in the coach.
The water pump has a pressure and bypass setting. If it runs all the time the pressure is set too high. I am attaching the water pump manual it explains everything except which screws adjust what, there is a tutorial on you tube that explains that. Once you know which screw it is back it off until the pump stops running without a demand. Fleetwood did replace the pump on my 14 coach but for other reasons.
I am also attaching the schematic for the Service Compartment

Well bust my behind. LOL Yes i have the same problem and will put that on my list for the fresh water hose entry. I just ran it up thru the big hole
I have most of that info on the pump except the pressure screw. At this point i am in winter mode and all buttoned up for the factory trip in two weeks. I will just let the factory deal with the pump and check it all out. LOL
Glad you started this as i always learn something new. One thing on my awning is it came in fine and the next morning it just wouldn't go out, i can hear a slight click but nothing. IT absolutely worked fine up to that point and had no issues with either the auto retract or the manual. See what the factory says about it. I have searched every fuse and circuit breaker on the coach and see nothing for the awning except the fuse in the main for the awning lites. I will be interested to see what the factory tells me for the source adn i think the motor just quit but will see what they say about it.
Thanks again AL !!!

FWIW
One nice improvement on my 2016 is that all the 12v circuit breakers seem to be in the same place. There is a stack of them in the inverter compartment to the left of the entry door. I'ld go take a pic of it for you but right now it's a winter wonderland here in KY.

My 35E had two deck plates in the wet bay. One for the sewer hose that the top was removable for the hose to go through. The other swiveled to expose two small openings for the power cord and fresh water hose. If you have room for this , it would be an easy install.

That is the way my 2014 Bounder was. The 2016 has the LX package and it has a power reel in the rear compartment for the power cord I don't know if Dennis has an LX or not or where his power cord is located. The 16 on delivery only had the one deck plate first time I saw it. It had 2 when I picked it up but the new one is directly under the fresh water input there is plenty of room to add a second plate. On both the 14 and 16 Bounder the drain plate did not line up with the tank drain valve itself. I use a portable Flojet waste pump to drain the tanks thru a garden hose when at home so I required the dealer to make sure they lined up before I would take delivery, while working on that issue I noticed the lack of a seperate fresh water plate, when I brought it to their attention adding the second plate was not an issue. The 16 also has a small well to the left of the service panel where I can stow the black water accessories.
Whenever I connect the drain hose I use a 9" section of clear pipe connected to the tank drain valve itself so I can see what is going on during the drain and rinse process. That piece of pipe would not have lined up the way the drain and deck plates were installed originally, something else I suspect Dennis can add to his list for the factory visit.

"On both the 14 and 16 Bounder the drain plate did not line up with the tank drain valve itself."
Seems that is a common issue with many Bounders. I just got a 2012 35K and have the same misalignment of the sewer outlet and the access plate.
What was the fix?
If possible to do it myself I will.
Thanks folks. This is the most valuable forum I've been on in many years!

I have the 14 Bounder and am anxious to hear the fix for the misaligned port. So much for Fleetwood QC.
