2017 Fleetwood Discovery 40G - potential purchase

Hello. My wife and I are really close to purchasing our first motorhome. We've been camping for years (travel trailer, 5th wheel and now toy hauler). We've found a 2017 Fleetwood Discovery 40G that we like and are close to potentially purchasing. Anything specific to a motorhome (and this brand/floorplan) that we should look at extra close before buying. We've only seen pictures at this point so clearly more inspection is needed before finalizing.

Welcome to the forum.
Not exactly on point, but we had a 17 Discovery LXE 40D. Never went back to the dealer for any problems. Had 3 recalls, one on the awning, the way it was mounted, Girard. Brake caliper bolts, and a last one still outstanding, on the engine control module, both Freightliner items. Last time I checked, Freightliner hadn't developed the replacement module yet.
All the small items, like the transmission cooler leak that needed the hose clap repositioned, I take care of myself.
We just recently traded the 2017 for a 2019 Discovery LXE 40M floorplan that better suited our needs and totally expect to experience the same satisfaction. If the 40G model satisfies your needs, I think you'll be satisfied with your choice.

Thanks. I feel comfortable I can fix most small things that could be issues. The electronics and diesel engine are certainly beyond my level of expertise.

You will not look back! I was in same boat, had TT, 5th wheels then last 2 where toy haulers, Raptor then Fuzion. Kids stopped tagging along and a friend of ours had a motorhome so we decided to give it a try, sure glad we did and we love our floor plan. I also joined the Discovery Owners Association which has been great help and great people too. Hope purchase works out for you.
