94 Southwind marker light replacement

Hi all.
The uppermost front tear drop and rear marker lights on my rig have seen better days and I'd like to replace them with LED fittings. I'm constantly chasing bad connections up there as the wire ends are very oxidised. Also I'd like to take them of to re seal them. You guys probably know this but the wires are just held in place on the connectors by friction but the biggest bug bear is that it looks like they are fastened from the inside and I'm not sure if they're small bolts or rivets.

Sooooo, is there an accepted method of removing these light fittings without taking the coach interior to pieces.
Thanks in advance,
Pete,
UK.

I suspect you'll find #10 screws holding your clearance lamps on.
That's what I have on my 95 Bounder. On mine, the nuts are on the out side and the ground wire is held on with the same screw. You'll probably have to remove some inside paneling. I found that a putty knife works well for prying the stapled paneling loose.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the reply.....I was beginning to loose faith

They're definitely fastened from the inside which is a pain. I'm reluctant to start taking internal panelling down so might just grind the heads of them and let the remainder fall inside the front cap. Mmmmmm
Thanks again.

I replaced mine last year Some of the old lights had been replaced with and they used rivets so I had to drill them out. Replacing them with bolts was a pain due to the hole where the wiring came was not very big. It took some time but looks great at night. It will be well worth the time spent. Don't forget to seal the new receptacles so water doesn't get in I forgot on one and found drips coming down my front windshield.

Just thought I'd drop by to update this thread and whilst I'm here apologise to John58 for not replying, for some reason I became un-subscribed.

My new LED lights arrived in the UK this morning so I've made a start this afternoon and removed the old ones. As John says they were riveted so I drilled them out and the wire tails are extremely short...and when I say extremely I mean extremely !!

I got the first one fitted using exploding rivets and caulking tape behind the fitting. The rivets pulled the fitting in very tightly and I got good squidge from the tape. Looks like it's going to be a success........Fingers crossed.
Many thanks guys.
