97 Bounder Brakes

Where can I find chassis parts for this thing? It is on a Ford chassis and I need to change the brake pads.

Correct. Don't look for Bounder Brakes, look for ones that are for the model of your Ford chassis

HI,

The chassis model for Ford motorhome chassis is F53.

Be aware that sometimes the chassis under a motorhome is a model year older than the model year of the motorhome. This because motorhome manufacturers have bare chassis in stock at the time of model year turnover and put the new motorhome on last year's chassis.

So, your chassis could be 1996 or 1997. There may be a tag somewhere in the motorhome that gives you this information. In your case you can probably identify the chassis year by the engine. If it has a 7.5L V8 it is definitely a 1996. If it has a 6.8L V10 it is probably a 1997.

Order your parts for Ford F53 RV Chassis of the appropriate year.

If I have this wrong someone will correct me!

Right now our MH is at Camping World getting a new awning installed, so I will verify when we get it back. That said, we have the V10 engine, so we'll see if that holds true on the chassis.

Thanks one and all for the comments. I have a RA account and was pretty sure I had the F53 chassis, but just needed to hear from fellow owners.

Just use the VIN # to order parts. Its on the Reg. and insurance forms.

Most auto parts house have that ability.

Using the year is a crap shoot.

Ford did NOT use the V10 in the 1997 chassis. 1997 F53 used a 460 V8. Ford did NOT build a 1998 model year chassis. The first V10 model year chassis was a 1999.
Before ordering parts make sure what you own. There is a world of difference between the V8 chassis and the V10 chassis.

With all due respect to the 2 very knowledgeable gentlemen quoted above, while they may have not made a bounder in 1998, I own a bounder
titled as a 1998 with the 460 v8 engine.

I had a Gulfstream that was titled as a 2000 and it had a 1999 chassis.

You can run your VIN# in a decoder and get some more info.

While I to the superior knowledge of the above posters it is gonna be real interesting if Mr Mac has a V10 engine in his '97 Bounder as he believes.

We did NOT indicate there was no Bounders made in 98. There were a bunch of Bounders and other MHs made in 98. We indicated that Ford did NOT make a 98 F53 model year chassis. Your 98 Bounder was built on a 97 F53 chassis. Some 98 Bounders were built on a 99 model year chassis with V10.

Last production year for the F53 with 460 engine was 1997. Again the V10 was not introduced in the F53 until late 98, as a 99 model year. Fleetwood stopped production of 97 MHs in late 97 and Ford didn't introduce the V10 F53 until late 98, then there is no way a 97 MH could have a V10. If the OP has a title that says 97 and he does indeed have a V10, then the licencing bureau/title department has made a typo and the OP got shafted.
I would love to wager on my comments, as I could us the winnings for more fuel. GRIN

Richard
