99 Bounder 34J Roof Repair

We are replacing the rubber membrane roof on our Bounder as it's lost most of the white top coat and we think possible ingress of some water.

Does anyone have any photos/pictures of this roof without the membrane, so we can see what wood/structure issues we should see.

Thank you

I'd clean and carefully inspect the EDPM membrane. If it doesn't have holes, it just needs a new coat of EDPM sealant. Unless cut or torn by branches, etc, the rubber membrane doesn't usually just become porous. Leaks most often occur at seams and objects that pierce the membrane, not the actual membrane itself.

Just because the "white is gone in places" does not mean the material is still not doing its job. What does "think possible ingress of some water" mean? You either have a water leak or you don't. Our 34J was coated with EPDM Rubber Roof coating as soon as we bought it and the roof has never leaked. I did this myself. It never leaked to begin with, we just wanted to be proactive. Replacing the entire roof is pretty drastic if you do not have major problems. Unless you have lots of spare time and money. Chuck

I redid the roof on our 2001 Bounder with Henry 887 Tropicool 100% silicone sealant. It came out really nice and was easy to apply. It has a 20 year warranty, not that expect it to last that long but they seem to stand behind it. I called them to make sure it was the proper product for that roof and they said yes.

I first went around all seems with eternabond tape and also sealed the edge of the roof around the entire perimeter.

Home Depot has the best price with free shipping.
