2007 bounder w/ A&E elec. awning which usually will not retract without me pushing up on tube for 3 or 4 rotations & then it will work ok the rest of the way up. Extension is no problem. This is using 50 amp shore power. RV neighbor suggested possible low voltage. I timed retraction with shore power & it was 22 seconds. Power disc. & running engine 21 seconds for retraction. Lubed all pivot points & no help. Left for an hour with awning out & returned it was retracted with sensor set for 11 mph. I don't trust it to auto retract anymore. This problem occurs with remote; new batteries & also the on board switch near entry door. Any suggestions?

Good luck on fix, having same problem. I've had two different Fleetwood dealers look at mine to have them both tell me this is normal op. Do a search on here and you will find we are just 2 of 1000's having the same problem. A&E Weather Pro is JUNK and as for the wind sensor don't trust it, 2 mph winds and it will roll up but if you have 100 mph winds you'll find your MH flipped over on it's side with it still out.

I just read Oct. 2011 MotorHome magazine & on page 86 is a tip on A&E awning problem similar to ours. Our Bounder is at NAS Pt. Mugu & I'm in Lancaster Ca., at present. We are due back to Mugu next month as we spend 30 days there & home for 2 weeks to get out of this desert heat 106 yesterday & forcasted 107 today. I will try the spring fix & let you know if it works. I agree they are a piece of junk.

A dealer in Arizona replaced the awning motor to no avail & then the electric panel, same outcome & after talking to A&E they tightened the tension spring on opposite end of the tube from the motor 5 turns which corrected the problem. I drove to Pt. Mugu today 190 miles round trip & mine operated 4 times without fail. If I were to go back tomorrow it probably wouldn't work without assistance, which is what has been happening

Got my copy today, it said to tighten the spring by five turns.

Poor design, don't ever trust the wind sensor. Mine has NEVER worked even after new boards and wind sensors were replaced. Mine works fine (so far) with the remote or wall switch. I really expect that to quit soon. Still underwarrenty so i wish it would hurry up and quit.

I have found that if I don't put the awning clear out, in other words stop about a quarter turn short of full extension, then it rolls up easily. I think the leverage against the support arms when it is clear out is too much for the wimpy motor.
