A/C Belt Routing 98 American Eagle C8.3
My A/C belt needs replacing and I have some questions about how the belt should be routed.
On my unit the belt is a V-notched belt with the routing currently to the right of the tensioner with the V-notches running through the A/C condensor pulley and also running through the engine pulley below.
The flat side of the belt comes in contact with the tensioner.
I have seen various pictures and videos of 97-98 Eagles where this belt is
routed to the left of the tensioner with the V-notches never coming into contact with either the tensioner or the pulleys. In other words the flat side of the belt is the only portion of the belt that comes into contact with the tensioner and the pulleys.
I would appreciate some input as to how your unit is set-up on your Eagles, Dreams or Traditions in model years 97-98.
Also, how do you adjust the tension on the belt itself and what is the best
method for the old belt removal?
There is a bolt behind the tensioner itself that I can get a socket on but so
far I cannot get it to budge.
Seems to be just cutting it off would be fine, but maybe that is just too easy and there is another method that would be better.
Thank you in advance for any tips!
