We have a 2004 Discovery.

Recently we have been having a loss of ac power. No breakers have tripped. It doesn't seem to be due to load. Sometimes as low as 8 amps.

While ac power is out the generator powers everything ok. The loss may be as long as a few seconds, or as much as a half hour.

Can anyone tell what may be overheating to cause this problem?

So everything works while on the generator but you experience intermittent power loss while connected to shore power. The first thing to look for is something loose. Are you in an RV park or at home? Check the power cord plug and work your way to the transfer switch. Remove the transfer switch cover and see if there is anything loose or discolored and if there is an electrical smell. Do you have a surge protection device on your power cord? Disconnect the rv from AC and open the main breaker panel and check for loose connection on breakers and also check the neutral connections.
