I have a trip planed to Laughlin NV in July. My 05 36' Fleetwood Triumph 5th wheel only has 1 ducted ac unit. There's going to be 5 adults sleeping in this trailer. I'm afraid it may be too much for one unit. Would it be advisable to add a second unit on inplace of the front vent. I would imagine it would already be pre-wired in the celing if a second unit was an option from the manufacture, although I don't know. Any opinions?

We had one A/C in our 5th wheel, and added a second over the bed in the front. You'll need it in NV in July. As for the pre wiring...that was an option on our rig which we selected when we ordered the rig...in anticipation of having to put in the extra unit.

Usually if it is pre-wired there will be a junction box in the ceiling right next to the vent opening, with a blank faceplate installed. The AC wiring will be terminated inside the junction box.

Thanks for the input. I didn't have a junction box with a plastic cover which was dissapointing, but I did take off the vent cover inside the 5er and quess what? The vent is pre-wired, with the wires tucked in the ceiling. Stop by a local RV store in inquire on AC units. They currently have a Coleman and one another brand I can't recall the name on sale for $550. Is this a good price or does anyone know of a website I might possible get a better price? I plan on installing this myself. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

We just finished adding an A/C on a fiver. Here is a link to some pictures.

BTW That's a fine price. You may need what is called a ADB (Air Dist. Box) and that will be about another $100.

Dick,

Great job! Couldn't have done it better myself.
