AGM charging

I have a Xantrex freedom 458 in my 2006 Revolution. I have decided to change my coach batteries from flooded to AGM batteries. I see I have the ability to change the charge perimeters to AGM although I am not quite sure as to how. I have read the book, but not sure I am doing the programming correctly I think I am doing it correctly just not sure as the light goes back to charge and no real confirmation.
Also I am concerned on the alternator putting out too many volts while driving.

Looking for input from someone who has been down this road

I would not be too worried about the alternator while driving.

And calling the companies Tech Support, can provide a reassurance of the steps you've taken to reprogram your unit. (They helped me with a previous inverter/charge combo I had about 5 years ago. Hope they're as patient today as they were with me then!).

Best of luck to you,
Smitty

No worries re the alternator - several hours now and then at an elevated voltage won't even be noticed, especially since power is being both drawn out and replaced all the time you are driving.

Realistically, we are only talking about maybe 0.1v difference in the float charge voltage. Some battery brands may be a bit more or less, but it's a minor variance at worst. And that's just one of many factors that effect the overall lifespan of the batteries. So by all means select the AGM charge profile on your Freedom, but no need to obsess about it.

You should be able to observe a slightly lower voltage on the Freedom's remote display when in the float charge state. You may have to select a different status display to see that info, depending on what yours is normally set up to show.
