Air Dumping and Leveling

When we are in front of our house I'm a little afraid to level the coach. The step is close to curb height and will hit the curb if I dump the air...and I can not figure out a way to keep the step up when I open the door, then I could just put a small step outside. Is there a way to keep the step from deploying?

Mine is confusing but I turn the steps off open and close the door twice and then they stay out for me. If you have the literature on your steps it will explain the procedure better than I did.

That's interesting. I'll try that.

Never though of that, but.....

I see a couple of simple ways you could accomplish this with a Fleetwood product.

Simplest way, but not as reliable. Stick a magnet on the switch that senses the door opening. This would not be the preferred method. If the magnet fell off the steps would extend.

Most reliable way, retract the steps and pull the fuse. Your chassis electrical manual should be able to tell you which fuse panel & fuse.

In theory if the steps encounter an immovable object, such as the curb, they will only go that far and stop because the spike in current draw at that point tells the controller to shut off. (But I don't want to be the one to test it with my leg.). So maybe it's not something you need to worry about.

That didn't work...on to step two. Pull the fuse.

I have the same problem when parking at home. I simply flip the chassis battery disconnect switch before I open the door after parking and the steps stay in. much easier than pulling the fuse and I haven't had issues with needing anything that uses the chassis battery while parked.

Hmm, I guess that would work as well. I stay plugged in so power wouldn't be an issue.

Except....

If you disconnect the batteries they won't be getting any charge. Even if you're plugged in. That's how mine works.
