Have the above RV fitted with a 6 speed transmission with a push button shifter. For some unknown reason the shifter does not light up and the engine won't start. Checked the two10 amp fuses in the Allison relay box & they are OK. The ECU was replaced 2 years ago with a new unit. Seems like there is a voltage supply problem to me. Looking for suggestions as to where to go and what to check. Thanks

I had the exact same issue with mine, Fortunately I was in my Drive way. Looked for everything. I pulled it out and sent it here>http://www.transmissioninstruments.com/---They informed me that Yep it was bad and rebuilt it for around $350. They also told me that early 90's Allison TCU's had issues.
This was 175,000 miles ago.

I tried another shift controller from another vehicle. Same result. It wouldn't light up either. Tested the connector plug terminal pins 1 & 16 but there wasn't any power there. Is there possibly another fuse somewhere in the engine bay. Some one suggested that Allison in some RV's might have one "somewhere". Or could it be a faulty relay somewhere? Appreciate any further ideas from anybody??Thanks

On my 96 Monaco, there is a fuse, just off the battery + post about 6" to 1' away from the battery, on the smaller line that leads to the Allison.
I switched battery's and missed that wire, as it fell in behind, and I did not see it!

Check that location to see if the fuse is bad or for a bad connection! Hope it is something simple like that! Rail!

The fused wire from the battery is usually only two to four feet long. It is crimped connected together with a longer wire running to the transmission ecu.

That crimp is known, mine did last fall, to pull apart and not power the transmission.

The crimp on some is in the battery box or several feet beound the battery box.

You should have a fused hot wire to the transmission. One to the engine ECU.

And maybe one to the engine fuel pump?

Your engine will not start with the ignition key.
