American Heritage 2000

How many miles is too many? It's got 109,000... it's a 500 cat engine. Not sure about the transmission. It's got new tires/batteries. Looks nearly perfect. Got a tag axle which "steers"... have no clue what that exactly means... We really like the coach. They are asking 79,000 but since it's a repo, can probably get it much less. All the literature is there.
Any big issues with these rigs?

The Heritage is the top of the AC line and was and is a very nice coach. Last month we went to an AC rally where one of the demo AC Heritages sold...MSRP over $850k.

109k is nothing for the engine itself, but everything else has been used for 13 years and 109k miles as well. Alternator, fuel pumps, suspension, etc. etc. etc. That said, $79k for a coach of that pedigree is probably a reasonable ball park. If it appeals to you, make an offer and see where it goes.

I know this is an old post but I'm looking at an American Heritage with eerily similar specs including mileage and advertised price. If this is the same coach at a Northern California RV dealer at the same asking price. Any insights on the one you passed on (especially if it turns out to be the same one in Davis, CA)?

Thanks...

I know the one in Davis well, We have looked at it a few times. My opinion only is that there is NO way he will sell at the price he is asking UNLESS just the right person happens along and loves it. With that being said that rig has sat there for well over 18-20 months if I am not mistaken.

My wife loves it but not enough to spend anywhere near what he wants. It will need some tlc a lot of loose panels, mismatched tires (they are new he says)

I too am "looking" at a 99 -2000 Heritage I do have a class B commercial so at least I can drive the thing but boy they are LONG I also like the 04 revolution but I know they are in a different league.

Are you in N. Cali??

We looked at that rig nearly two years ago. Can't believe that the "perfect" buyer hasn't shown up yet. The price has jumped all over the place on Craig's list from $79k to $69K then back to $79.
We thought it was in really good shape but didn't really inspect it closely as it was just too big for us as a first motorhome. And they guy said the tires were all new - although we didn't notice they were different brands.

It just seems that the rig is being used as "bait" because it is a real classic but I might be wrong...

RUNDLC, no...I'm not in North Cali...but Central Texas. I have a cousin who lives just 20 miles from the place where the RV is so he went to look at it. I'd gotten the guy down to $67500 but red flags went up when, as Campingkris mentioned, the advertised price suddenly jumped up to $79K...and when my cousin asked about having an independent mechanic look it over...the guy deflected and mentioned a lot of other buyers lined up. To his credit, he did agree to meet my cousin on Sunday morning for him to take a look at it...and called me back on Monday morning asking if I was moving ahead or he would just move forward with a buyer from Georgia. I declined ... given the pressure sale and other red flags. I wish the best of luck to the buyer from Georgia...maybe it's a great coach...or it could be a money pit....I just didn't want to take the chance even at the reduced price.

Thanks to Campingkris for comments here and additional insights via private messages. My search continues...
