We recently purchase a 2005 American Tradition. Most of the equipment and systems seem well designed and easily understood. However the latch on the Genset pull out and access to service the batteries do not. Has anyone had problems with the Genset latch failing or done a modification to strengthen it? Also has anyone modified the battery cover to allow access from the top rather than the awkward access between the cover and the batteries. Thanks

The genset latch on my '04 works fine, though you hav to get down almost to the ground to use it. You can get a replacement if yours is bent or broken - American Coach parts can get it, or order one online. The part is the De Sta Co. # 331 RSS.

Here is one source:

Item No: TC-331-RSS [De-Sta-Co Toggle-Lock Plus Action Clamp, Latch Action, w/700 lbs. holding cap., Stain. Steel]

I pulled out the flimsy cover from mine and installed a plywood deck a little higher. Now I have a sturdy shelf plus more room to reach underneath for access. If you want, you could make it a roll-out shelf.

Both great suggestions. Thanks. Is there a area for American Coach owners?
Russ

ACA is the American Coach Ass. Check out the web site and it will show you all the Chapters and areas of the country if you are interested.
The American Coach Association

American Coach owners are covered here with the rest of Fleetwood.

The American Coach Association is the AC Owners club and there is also an American Coach Chapter of the FMCA.
