Ozzman99,

Either the hydraulic fan clutch is frozen and needs replacement or your cooling system is running hot and needs to be checked out.

Steve

American traditions have the radiatiors on the side and use a hydraulic motor to cool, they are not run off a belt.

My American traditions fan will run slowly all the time, but will speed up when hot. There is a valve that switchs the fluid to power up the fan to fast speed, the valve has a water sensor that controls the valve.

You might get more responses if you posted this on the Cummins thread.

ozzman, I had a 03 Dream and had the same problem. It killed the power and fuel mileage. I finally tracked the problem, there is a wiring harness that goes to the hydrolic motor that turns the fan. In this two wire harness there is a weatherpack plug, one of the contact pins had corroded away and was not making a good connection. When this happens the cooling system goes into a fail safe situation. The fan will run contiguously as to not cook the diesel. The connection is between the engine between the fan motor on the bottom(laying under the coach it is in plain sight. I cut the inline connection out and soldered in a two wire polarized plug and it has worked fine. Cost of $2.50. Hope this helps. Since this, I have installed Dielectric Grease in EVERY connection I can get to from bumper to bumper on a my 42 footer, even the AC's on top!

thanks for all the help, i traced it down to the coil on the solenoild valve, i had 12 volts to the connnector so i hooked 12 volts from the battery to the wires on the coil, nothing going thru the coil. spartan tech was also a big help in troubleshooting the problem.
