Bounder: Anyone done a 99 Bounder Slide Out Seal Repair?

Hello Folks,

The seal around the 14' slide out in my living room is shot. When it rains hard, unless I tilt the motor home, I sometimes get water in the unit, showing up in the roof carpet of the slide out. I replaced the slide out awning a few years ago, but now I want to put in a new seal. I called Fleetwood to get a part number, but they did not have this information.

Has anyone done this job before? It looks like there are about 20 to 30 screws that have to be taken out that hold down the seal/wiper. Is this one part? Or, are there two parts, the seal and the wiper? Is it called a wiper? It also looks like there was some kind of sealant used on top of this? Any ideas what this is?

You guys have always been great. You just helped me solve my fuel pump problem, and now I am feeling like I can do anything.

I replaced weather seals on my winnebago this summer. I did nothing to the wiper seal, which only wipes the slideout box from rainwater as it closes. The weather seals winnie used were hollow, "D" shaped rubber with a peel and stick backing. These "D" seals were applied on the interior and exterior of the slide. On the backside of the wood trim work around the slide box was where one set of "D" seals lived. I could see mine easily from the drivers seat and looking at the slide. On the exterior, the "D" seal was visible and stuck to the inside of the outside edges of the box. I don't know how Fleetwood did theirs, so this info may be useless. My leaks were stopped with this rubber replacement.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately my wiper has come loose in the upper-right corner. So, I have to take off the trim that holds it down. This is a bear since it appears to be glued down. It also has a ton of small screws that seem to love to strip when trying to remove. I guess I should replace it if it is too damaged or isn't too expensive.
