E camped for the weekend and now my Atwood 6gallon will not lite. I can hear it clicking but seems not to be getting the gas

Thoughts. Buy new parts or a hot water hearted. It is in a 1993 Bounder

If the tank is in good shape go for the parts.

The gas valve opens only if the thermostat and ECO (Emergency Cut Off) switches both close. But I would not be too quick to conclude there is no gas flowing. Are you sure the igniter is in the right position? Might there be rust scales or insect nests in the burner tube? The latter disrupts the flow of gas enough that the spark is ineffective. Start by cleaning the burner tube (try a vacuum nozzle).

The gas valves must open for the gas to flow. I always started by cleaning the connections to the gas valves. If there is still no flow, Put your hand on the gas valve and turn on the hwh. Feel for the valves to click when they open. If you don't feel the valves open, Check the connection for voltage.

The 10 gallon tank needs a larger cut-out than the 6 gallon. Not a simple replacement.

#1.

I know it sounds weird but for some reason spiders LOVE the smell of propane and will build webs in the burner tube and sometimes even in the gas orifice. Some dis-assembly is required, but try taking gas jet out and cleaning the orifice with a single strand of fine wire.

Seriously! I've lost count of the number of times I've seen this.

#2.

I had a Montana that kept doing this. It turned out to be the edge connector on the electric ignition controller board. I secured it with a couple of tie-wraps and had no more problems.

#3.

Bad high-temp sensor. If the WH thinks it's already hot it won't ignite no matter what you do.

I had a similar problem with my 10 g Attwood that I solved by removing all electrical connections, spraying with deox, and reinstalling. Good luck!
