Hi, just pulled up to a new camp and as assigned a space on a slope. When I did the auto level, the front wheels actually raised off the ground a few inches. The bus is level and there are no warning bells going off, but it sure looks weird. Is this normal or am I doing damage to the chassis or axle or something?
Thanks
Ed

It's ideal that, when you level, all wheels are on the ground. Having your front wheels off the ground a little bit isn't bad if it's something you can't possibly avoid. We have, on occasion, done this. Also, you never want to have your back wheels off the ground though - those are your parking braking wheels & will keep your coach from rolling backwards.
Sometimes sites are not level enough for you to use the Auto Level function & you will need to make adjustments manually. In your case, with the front wheels off the ground, you should retract all your jacks, put blocks under the front ones & start over. If using blocks under your jacks is still allowing your front wheels to be off the ground, you can also put blocks under your front tires & manually lower the jacks enough so they are touching. You don't have to be perfectly level, just level enough for your fridge to work. I've found being a touch off-level, allows rain to drain off the roof & slide toppers better.
If there's no way you can get level enough & your wheels are way off the ground (more than a couple inches), ask to move to another, more level site.

I read the jacks were never meant to suspend the chassis frame but only provide leveling and platform stability. The jacks are not meant as a lateral side-to-side or front-to-back motion stop such may be the case when the wheels are off the ground. Place something under the front wheels to take up some of the extra space and relevel.

For what it's worth, Equalizer says my jacks are more than sufficient to lift the chassis. They are rated at 14,000 lbs each and I have a 36,000 lb GVWR and max 20k on one axle. That doesn't mean that Power Gear or HWH would say the same, though. Or that all coaches have jacks with a lift capacity greater than the coach weight.

Well I must have done some damage, at least forced out some fluid... caused a bell to go off and indicator saying jacks down when they weren't... but found the reservoir, added transmission fluid, and the problem is fixed. Won't ever level with the wheels off the ground again. Thanks for your help everyone. This is a great site, with great people

Lori I'm anxious to get to that point. I will gladly pass along what i've learned here to others. I've never met a more helpful group of people.
Thanks again!
