If you have a FW dealer near you that has a 35h in stock ( no more E's sad) , they might help support you in communicating with the factory on how it should be and ultimately repair it at the factories expense.

Our 06' 35E has them on both ends. Don't forget to give them a little shot of silicon spray (slide out) now and then.

I have sprayed some silicone as well. Curious as to where you spray yours.

Just part of the lube process. I'm pretty sure that the pictured piece is part of the FW fix to help pull the slide in, that and a heavier duty motor. So a little silicon helps it 'slide' up and in. Up and over the hump as the slide comes in I guess you could say. I know they beefed up the motor during the 06 model year as we have friends with an early 06 who had theirs changed under warranty. Ours is a late '06 and came with the larger motor. I also use Kwik-lube under the slide, but not on the gears and gear tracks that actually drive the slide in and out (would make a mess on the carpet). I use a brush to keep them clean.

I started using the Kwik-lube on our steps after the third time the steps got stuck in the extended position. That happened in our first 2 years of FT'ing. Fixing the steps meant taking the motor off, cleaning, lubing and reassembling. A PIA to be sure. The steps have never gotten stuck since I bought and started using the Kwik-lube 3 years ago, so I am a big fan of the stuff. Expensive, but does the job and lasts a long time. The slide lube points are similiar to the steps, so I started using it on the slide too.

Thanks Bob. If not on the gears and gear tracks( which I do spray silicone on ) Where do you apply Kwik-lube " under the slide"?

Cliff,

The 'drive shaft' which has the manual override at the back end passes through the inner rail assembly's in a couple of places. Very much like the steps, but the drive shaft is mostly a square tube, but round where it passes thru the inner rails. I lube these points, also the motor where it 'drives' the 'drive shaft'. There are some rollers that get some silicon as well. So anything that looks it moves or has something move across it gets lube. The less friction the better. It does not need or get a lot of service, but I like to take a look at it a couple times a year. The lube is pretty much as needed as that is what the Power Gear owners manual says.

Bob

PS while oil changes and lubes are not my favorite thing, I still get impressed with just goes into these things while crawling around under there. That is when I kind of do a 'quick look around' to see what might else might need my attention while I have my hands dirty.

Thanks Bob. Good points. I will add them to my routine. I too enjoy looking around the under carriage.

Once they give me my keys I went out to check the motorhome out to make sure all was well with it, since they told me they had to remove the living room slide to do the repairs. After looking at it I notice there was a lot of metal shavings in my carpet in the front of slide and a 1 1/2 hole that I could see daylight at the bottom when slide was in. After waiting 25 mins a smart a$$ tech comes out and looks at it and tells me the seal is cut to short that he will take sealer and fill it in I told him no he was not going to patch it half a$$ it was going to be right. He looked at me and said I'll fix it anyway I want to. I went back in told the lady behind the counter I want the service manager to come out and look at it few mins went by and here he comes two mins later and it was fixed. Now here's my question after getting home I notice there's a piece missing I think from the slide. If you pull back the small flap of carpet at each end of slide there's the end of the aluminum slide raiser this is the half moon piece that picks up the slide as it starts to lift up and comes in and runs all the way across the bottom of slide. I looked at mine and the rear of the slide has a end cap made out of white plastic but the front does not, I think they left it off to can someone tell me if they have one on both ends?
Thanks
Yes there is one on each side a left and a right
