Surprisingly, the electric steps stopped operating on our 97 Bounder. My first thought was fusing, as I had been poking around earlier in the electrics looking at a starter solenoid problem. So naturally, I went looking for the appropriate fuse. Hmm, wonder where that fuse panel is located - - In the Battery Control Centre, or under the dash panel? I had a quick look and could see nothing marked "steps". Anyone have an idea where the fuse might be?
Keith.

Mine are in the BCC and are clearly marked. When my steps stopped last year , it turned out to be the motor. It was also suggested to me at the time to remove the ground wire from the chassis and make sure it had a clean connection, also unplug the wires and wait a few minutes and replug them in. Be sure to keep clear when you try these as they may work and you don't want to get an arm, hand or finger caught. Lastly a call to Fleetwood with your FW ID # might get the fuse location answer for you. 1-800-322-8216

Keith. It is time to get your glasses checked, pal. The fuses for the steps are in the battery control center. You probably missed it because it is not listed on the back of the front cover. As you face the bcc, the fuses are on the far right. It is right at the top. 2 and 3 or 3 and 4. If the fuses are O.K. You will probably find it is the gearbox. Quickee Steps do not have in and out stops. The brain (control box) senses amp. rise and shuts off elec. flow. In other word's your steps run in until they are all the way closed. when they can't go any further, the motor current goes way up. The brain senses this and shuts elec. off. Sometimes the step close to tight. They bind up. When this happens, you open the door and the motor is powered up, Because it is in a bind, the brain senses the rise in amp draw and shuts down. The repair is simple. Loosen the three 5/16 screws in the gearbox cover, drop it down far enough to free the gears, Then move the steps about two inches. Replace the cover. Easy repair. You may want to drop the cover off all the way, and add more grease to the gears. If you do this, be careful and don't drop the pin from the center of the gear. These gears are not timed, so you don't have to worry about getting them back in marked way.
