Unhappy brake fluid fill 04 bounder

Hi

I thought about replacing brake fluid on newly acquired 04 Bounder until I looked up at master cylinder. how do you put fluid back in as it is used up?

All the car parts dealers napa, advance, o'reilly etc. sell suction guns. They look like grease guns without the side handle. You can suction out any fluid or put it in. It has a plastic hose for easy access.

Yep, got mine from NAPA.

Keep in mind though that your system does not use up fluid. If it's going down, there is a leak somewhere. It may be very small, a piston seal most likely. The system can however wear out the fluid and most manufacturers suggest replacing fluid at regular intervals.

Not trying to be picky, however the fact is, as your pads wear the pistons hold more fluid and your fluid level will drop. This is true with the ford because they use a double piston.

Yes, Traveler, I wholly agree with the above and from experience, when you add fluid and then later change to new pads, be sure to remove some fluid first as it will really make a mess when you compress the pistons and the master cylinder runs over.
