Well I just got the 83 Pace Arrow motor-home back from getting a major tune up, and now I want to change my own oil, but after crawling under it yesterday, I have concern about lifting it, to get under enough to do the oil change, I used my floor jack yesterday but I did not feel safe under the jack, and I thought I would use my stabilizing jacks to get under it, but having never had these jacks before I am concerned on working under them, I do not have heavy duty jack stands large enough to set them under the motor-home, so I was wondering how most of you do it, My wife told me to take it to someone, because if I have to buy heavy duty jack, jack stand etc it would me more expensive to do it myself, so I welcome your input before I waste money in buy all of the gear.

I drive mine onto 2 x 8's to get the height I need. I start with one board long enough to put a shorter one on top of the first one and so on, stair steps, then drive on. I can get enough height stacking 3 boards. Good luck and be careful.

Not recomended but I use my leveling jacks. If they get it high enough for you, but you are uncomfortable getting under with only them holding it up, then I would suggest you get some 4x4 and 2x4 blocking to place under the frame for safety insurance.

I use my levelers to put 12 ton jack stands under the frame. I got the stands cheap on sale at Harbor Freight.

Thank you so I guess either the ramp or buy a pair of heavy jack stand with the leveler would do the trick.

It's been 10 years since we had it, but I am pretty sure I changed the oil on our 83 P30 chassis Pace Arrow, w/o lifting it in any way. Just did our Workhorse W22 the same way. 10 years older makes one a little stiffer is all.

When we had the 2 motorhomes, I would use the levelers on the front to raise the RV and then place jack stands under the frame and let the wet mostly down on the jack stands. When finished with the oil change, lift it using the levelers and remove the jack stands.

For my diesel truck, I use drive on ramps.

I once had a 65 T-bird that finally cured me of getting on my back under any motor vehicle ever again. It is pretty cheap to have your oil and filter changed these days.

Hi kartvines,
I do the same as Wanabee FTer in post #4. The jack stands are an asset that can be used again and again. While you are under there how about doing the annual greasing of the chassis?

Have a 2003 39z bounder, friend going to do oil change for me, diesel engine. Manuals are at other location. What type of oil & filters do I need? Wonderful husband passed on, and I need to get this done.
