BJO--many things can cause that check engine light. Does your fuel tank have the pressurized cap? I know that on certain vehicles, if the fuel tank cap isn't closed securely a check engine light can be triggered. Good luck.

You may have to have a shop read out the engine diagnostic code, which should have been set if the Check light is on. That will tell you why the light is on. Some possibilities are low fuel pressure, low voltage in the chassis 12v system, low coolant or malfunctioning coolant sensor, etc.

Have you looked at the information on the little LCD display around the odometer? There is sometimes more information there in a Check situation.

You probably have a Freightliner chassis under that Bounder and this is really a chassis issue rather than a Bounder question, so you might want to call Freightliner Customer Service and ask them what can cause this situation.
