While I was snooping around my front dash and moving the bird’s nest of wires, I found 2 holes in the firewall the size of a nickel. No wonder I was always hot by my feet while traveling in the hot days.
This is what I did. I have an enclosed garage, closed all the doors and put a drop light in the hood section. Turned out the lights and it was fairly dark inside the garage. Went inside the coach and near the driver’s seat and notice where the light is coming through the firewall. I used some heavy tape and silicon to seal all the cracks I could find. I was surprise of all the holes that the electrical wires came through the firewall and not being sealed up.
When I was finished, I moved the drop light every foot down the firewall and checked to make sure all the holes are sealed. I sealed some on the inside and some on the outside depending if I could get to them. Now, I am curious if it’s going to make any difference in the hot weather. I have to wait for the summer to find out. Hope this helps others...........

Expanding foam insulation can also be used to seak firewalls.

I would advise you to do the same around the generator. The factory did not seal around the 50 amp cable coming from the generator to the distribution box. The carbon monoxide detector notified us of that problem in the middle of the night.

I had a couple smaller holes in my firewall too. Roughly 1/4".

This is kinda the same but different. I've noticed when parked and the wind is blowing from the direction I'm facing, I can feel the wind coming out the a/c vents. Anybody else ever had that situation? Of course its worst for that to happen in the winter....brrrr.

Jim... Simple cure.. start the engine... then on the heater controls push the recirculate button. That closes the vents to the outside air.

We do that when we're camping in colder weather. In the cool windy fall (with even colder nights), I noticed a slight draft up near the cab even with the privacy curtains drawn. Once I read about closing the vents using the recirculate button, it cut out those drafts.

The only problem with this, is it operates with vacuum from the engine. After awhile the vacuum bleeds off and it will be open again. Why they built it this way I'll never understand. I made a flap out of heavy plastic and during the winter when parked for periods of time I put this flap over the opening. Having this flap in place during storage also eliminated the Miller/Moth's getting in.
