Cleaned battery cable connections, now living in the dark.

I've got a situation with my AUX battery cables. On my '04 Bounder I had a corrosion issue on the battery terminals. I believe was careful enough to break only one connection at a time. I also serviced the water levels. Now, with everything clean and back together the whole 12V system is running at about 6.5 V. So, I'm wondering if I got a cable connection wrong? Did I have a battery that wasn't charging and now it's sucking all the current? One thing that could help is a photo of a AUX battery installation from a 38N. Four 6 volts in a tray on the LH rear compartment. I need something to compare mine to. I have the Fleetwood drawings but they aren't much help. Any help would be nice.

Phil-

It seems that you are saying that you have a total of 4 six volt batteries. If so, you may have improperly connected the cables so that the battery bank is outputting only six volts.

Link to good info on a proper series/parallel hookup for 4 batteries:

Thanks for the response folks. I did find one of the four 6 VDC batteries is not taking a charge. Shows about 1.75 VDC when disconnected from it's cousin. For now I'm running with two batteries and all is well. I'll dig out the small charger and see if there's any life in it. Fingers crossed. Updates to follow.

Living in Dark

Patterbery, I put a Pic in the members gallery of my 38f battery box. It is a 2008 but should be same. Red caps are at positive terminals and black at negative.
Hope this helps.

If that battery turns out to be bad. Replace all 4 at the same time.
Or if you hardly ever dry camp. The 2 good ones will work fine for that use.

Hello All. It appears the discharged battery still has some life in it after all. Charged it overnite. At 10am it had 13.3 VDC. Turned off charger to watch how fast it would deplete. 8hr later it shows 12.7vdc. Fingers crossed it may still hold. And this goes out to "Zoom", thanks for the pic, very helpfull.

Try to remember that Before you DIY and disconnect batteries or disassemble anything, use your cell camera and take some pic's before your start. You can always delete them later.
