Clicking noise in the battery compartment.

1999 American Eagle - Any suggestions for a clicking noise coming from my battery compartment? It sounds like a breaker switch flipping.

I'm hooked up to 50amps.

It began as something that would seem to start up after I turned all the lights off and would go to bed. It would click for about 10 minutes and then stop.
It has become increasingly common happening with no apparent cause.

Ideas

Have you had any electrical problems in the coach? does it do it when you unplug and run the gen-set? It is ether a solenoid switch or your transfer switch chattering. You are going to have to be out there when it does it to be able to tell where it is coming from. Try unplugging and then plugging back in and see if it does it. Do you see any solenoids in the compartment?

The sound your hearing would be the transfer switch. If it were a breaker, it would stay in the off position untill you flipped the breaker to an on position. Check all wires for a loose ground, etc. Be very careful, that elec. area can bite you like a rattle snake, maybe worse.

Had that same sound on my Bounder several months back. Finally traced it to a loose connection on a positive cable terminal. It wasn't one on the battery but on what I'll call a "connector block" for lack of the correct term. Tightned it and haven't had the noise since. Actually I was surprised that took care of it but it did.
