Converter location?
1997 American Eagle 40ESV
Manuals are vague on location ... I suspect mine has gone South but can only find generic info on converter.
Is there anyone out there that may have a similar rig that can point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Mike

I would guess somewhere close to the batteries.

Converters are generally integrated into your power distribution panel where your 120 VAC breakers and 12 VDC fuses are. Take the cover off and have a look.

If you have an inverter, its part if that.
Many diesel MHs have inverter/chargers in them. Look for a Xantrex or Magnum control panel.

While mines a 1999, it's located under the rear bed.

Your coach uses a Heart Source Manager, which combines the auto transfer switch and inverter/charger in one unit. It is located under the bed.
Get a copy of the SOurce Manager manual at http://www.xantrex.com/documents/Dis...s%20Manual.pdf

I cannot find the Source manager ... I found a Model TS30AC made by Todd Industries under the bed but nothing else. Is this the same type of devise that a previous owner possibly installed?
I have NO charging at all. Tried to reset the fuses inside my BCC but they were not tripped. I have a Freedom 458Series COMBI model 25 but again no fuses were popped on the exterior of the inverter. Is there an internal fuse? If so how do you get to it? I was able to get my generator started but it won’t charge the batteries either. Still trying to get the main engine started to see if that will charge. My transfer switch is in the electrical bay and it’s not making a thump when I plug into shore power but it does switch to shore power as it does on the generator I just do not get any charging. My Heart interface monitor shows batteries charging but they are in fact not charging and just about completely depleted of power. All batteries were replaced in September and everything has worked great until this week. I am a loss as to what else to do to fix this.
BTW, thank you to everyone trying to help!!
Mike

Just a wag but There's a main battery fuse in the battery box compartment. Follow the positive battery cable, the fuse maybe mounted to the compartment wall. Check for power on both sides of it.....

I think the Todd unit is an auto-transfer switch, but that suggests the Source Manager has already been replaced with separate components. You may now have a separate inverter/charger or converter/charger elsewhere. Try tracing backwards from the house batteries - that should lead you to the charger & inverter.
What problem are you having?

I have no charging . If I start the coach the alternator will charge but if I'm on shore power or generator I am getting no charging whatsoever. I located the 458 Combi but have not located anything else. I have a Todd transfer switch in the electrical bay but I have not opened it up to take a look. I do see 2 big 200amp fuses mounted on the wall next to the 458 Combi but have not tested those yet ... I will do this today and update.
Thank you the help!
Mike

I think you maybe correct! Now to track this fuse down! Anyone know what this type of fuse is called and how to locate its size?
Mike

Picked up this ALM 200amp fuse from my local NAPA! Was surprised they had it. So far everything is working as it should but I think I'm going to have to replace a few batteries. Will let it charge today and into tomorrow than I will load test the batteries and see if I got lucky or not.
Thanks to everyone that helped!
Mike
