Converter location ??

I have a 1998 Fleetwood Storm 28' and I am having a problem with (I believe) my converter, as when I plug into 110V, my interior lights are very bright and the bulbs blow, almost as though they are operating at 110V instead of 12V. Also, after a couple of days, the lights start to dim, the AC wants to start, but not enough power to do so, and as well the heater will not work. At that point, I noticed that the house batteries (they are new from last summer) are low as if they are not being charged. All of my electrical plugs work, i.e.; TV, as well as microwave. It seems that as long as the house batteries are full all works (except for the bright lights). Does anyone know where the converter is located on my MH? Do the symptoms possibly lead to the converter or should I be looking elsewhere? One other thing, when I installed the new house batteries, my alternator gauge was erratic until I disconnected them while driving. When parked and plugged in, nothing would work electrically until I hooked the batteries up again. Then the AC etc. came on and worked until the batteries wore down two days later.

Do you have a voltmeter?

What voltage are you seeing at the 120v outlets when all this is happening?
What voltage are you seeing at the 12v side at one of the light fixtures?

Is this a new coach to you or had everything been working fine and then this problem just suddenly appeared one day?

Call Fleetwood to see if their records can help you with the convertor location. Have your Fleetwood ID# handy , 1-800-322-8216.

Good luck and welcome to IRV2

Converter problem

94-Newmar: We purchased from a friend and all worked fine the last time they had it out. This happened on our first time out. Everything worked fine when I was checking things out at home before our trip. Then on the 3rd day we first noticed that the interior lights went dim one evening and the AC would not come on. I do have a volt meter and will check. Right now the RV is in my storage spot and will have to pull it out to plug in.
