Dash Cam

Has anyone been running with a dash cam?
After my last trip through Dallas/Fort Worth I decide I would get one. Anyone running I-35 W will enjoy the construction there.
I could not maintain a safe distance. Every time I got some separation someone would jump in a put on there brakes. Thank goodness for Brake-buddy.

We bought this one for our RV... Amazon.com : Falcon Zero F170 Dashcam Full-hd 1080p, 170į Wide Angle Lens, Car DVR Dash Cam with GPS Route Tracking, Superior Quality Night Vision ~ 64gb SD Card Included ~ Includes Top of the Line Customized GPS Route Tracking Software for Pc/mac ~

It works great, but I really don't know much about which ones are best. I selected it based on Amazon reviews.

Got to dashcamtalk.com and look them up, only way to get a good idea whats what. I have 3 camera's, 1 in MH, 1 in my truck, 1 in wife's car. MH has a Lukas, Truck has Panorama Knock Off, and Wife's car has Panorama. All 3 work sweet. For the money, have been really liking the Panorama Knock Off that I got from China, for under $100, so far its been great. Have only had it 3 or 4 months, so no way to tell its longevity. Did have to buy a different mount for $12 to set it up the way I wanted.

Driving home on Sunday, was almost in a accident, scared the holy you know what out of us, was really glad had dashcam going when incident happen. Guy was purposely trying to cause an accident, pulled in front of me and slammed on his brakes. Was able to stop just inches before crushing the guy. Would have been a he said she said if I did not have cam going. Have been debating on sending footage to the PoPo, but think they would just shrug it off as nothing actually happen.

There are lots of videos on Youtube now about idiots "brake-checking" big trucks so they can sue trucking companies. I will not be surprised if that begins to be an issue for RVers...we're all "rich", you know. The idiots pull directly in front of the truck and hit their brakes at highway speed. Really stupid way to try to collect money, especially since truckers are wising up and have dash cams.

I've got the Lukas also. I use it in the cars, but haven't figured out how I want to mount it in the MH yet. Works great, great picture. I use a 128G SD card in it.

I got a Garmin Dash Cam 20. Garmin is 2 mile from my house and I like their products. Seems to work great.
I like being able to save the videos. I am looking forward to our trip through the Colorado later this month. The picture quality is very good. I put 32G in replacing the 6G in the slot. The set up was just plug it in. I down loaded the program to play the videos from the web.
The down side is if it is your fault there is a record of that also.

Another use for the dash cam is to record your trips. I used one in the toad in Yellowstone. Got some great video of the Bison, Bears, foxes and other critters.
