Day time running lights

Purchased a new 2017 Pace Arrow LXE in the USA and brought it back to Canada. One of the things I over looked was the fact that we need Day time running lights in order to pass inspection. That means that the front lights have to come on when you turn on the ignition with no switch to turn them off. Anyone have any experience with having this done? I was told it's just the addition of a relay. Going to the local Fleetwood dealer today. ( the brochure claims that there are DRL).

My FW had DRL, however I had to be in drive for them to come on. While on park they do not.

I have been involved with importing 3 MH's from the US. I just installed a relay to turn on the low beam lights, full power. I supplied the relay with 20 amp fused power from the ignition side so lights came on with ignition. I grounded the relay to the hot side of the marker lights so when the parking or headlights are turned on, the relay cuts off.
Hope that helps.

Importing to Canada, all you need is right here
Registrar of Imported Vehicles

Remember, CBSA and Transport Canada only care about the "motor vehicle" portion, "living portion" (plumbing, propane systems) are not part of nor a concern of the RIV.

We were a Fleetwood dealer. Fleetwood is a big believer in day time running lights. I am sure your Pace should have DRL's. It is probably as simple as a blown fuse. (The DRL's have their own fuse.) Being a service manager for a Fleetwood dealer, I can tell you the local dealer may try to con you. If it is a fuse it will be no trouble to fix. If it is a wiring problem, it can take hours. The problem is Fleetwood is a company of penny pinchers. If you bill them for three hours they will pay you for one. Call Fleetwood and make sure the Pace has DRL's, Then get Fleetwood to fix them.

Could be someone just removed the fuse for the DTRL'S. Some people don't believe in them. I think they should be mandatory on all vehicles regardless of age. JMHO.

The only issue we had was initially the US border could not find our paperwork in the system....they were entering a wrong name. Once found, about 45 minutes including 15 minutes waiting in the line up. The staff at the RV place we bought at took care of all the paperwork. In order to export a vehicle, you now need the services of a broker. No more doing all of the paperwork on your own.

In touch with Fleetwood and found out that this particular coach had no daytime running lights installed. Customer service called the dealership where I purchased, expressing their concern with not offering to install them, knowing the coach is going to Canada and that they should pay for the installation.
Have an appointment with Freightliner to do the installation.

Thanks for the update. As I said Fleetwood is a company of penny pinchers. They believe in DRL's but the DRL wiring is installed by the chassis manufacturer. If the chassis manufacturer does not offer them, Fleetwood would not spend $10.00 or so to install them.
