First of all - Hello from Michigan!

We have just recently acquired a new 2007 Revolution. The dealer set up the in-motion satellite works and found out that it will not hold the satellite because the voltage delivered by the inverter is not a true sine-wave. I am not about to run the generator at a cost of $4.29 a gallon just to watch TV while on the road. The dealer is attempting to find a solution, maybe with the help of Fleetwood.

Currently I am somewhat VERY disappointed not to be able to run the TV while in motion, after purchasing an in-motion system.

Did anyone else run into this problem and maybe found a 'Work-around'?

Spring is sprung!

Horst

I have an in-motion satellite receiver (Kingdome) and works just fine running off the inverter. The inverter/converter in my coach is also a modified sine wave inverter.

If the power does continue to be your problem consider buying a separate true sine wave inverter for the TV/Satellite receiver. Probably about 300-400 watt unit.

This is a better solution anyway than running the large inverter/converter (uses less battery power). You would only need the inverter when you are dry camping and running off the batteries. Inveter is not used when hooked up to shore power

What kind of an in-motion system you do you have. I don't know of a single one that actually operates on 120V. They all use a 120V to 12V or 24V converter and the power supplied by the inverter would not be relevant. I don't know of a signal antenna system that will not work properly on a modified sine wave inverter. I sounds like the dealer is blowing some major smoke up your skirt!

Bill and Harry thanks for your replies.

Bill it is a KVH system.

I have to look up to see what kind of inverter I have.

thanks for the help. Whatever here comes my way will get back to the dealer also.

The KVH antenna was born to be run in an RV with 12V or 120V from a modified sine-wave inverter. Look back in KVH history. When they started making them the true sine-wave didn't even exist!
Have them put a working antenna on the roof and stop making excuses.

On my last motorhome I had a KVH satellite dome. It was the 12vdc that was dirty and caused the problem. Went to an AC to 12VDC power supply instead of the direct 12vdc and it cleared up the problem. It was actually the converter putting out dirty DC while running on AC, power supply on inverter or shore power worked fine.

The dealer has now ordered a part from Fleetwood which will eliminate the problem - I hope. I will let you all know next week sometime.

I had a ONE year go around with KVH and Newmar about my LF..it had many issues...loss of programming memory, failure to initialize and or find a satellite....was FINALLY fixed by replacing a faulty board, and this was after the problem was blamed on low voltage...got a dedicated 12V power supply....nothing helped until the board got replaced...now it's perfect!

Thank you, Larry, I expect to hear from the dealer by next week. They and Fleetwood will get to read this series of messages, if it isn't fixed properly.

Enjoy the weekend,

Horst

Be sure to check for dirty DC coming off the charging section of the inverter. This WILL effect all DC control boards badly. GOod luck and keep us posted.

The dealer informed me yesterday that they are unable to determine the cause of my problem. A Fleetwood rep will be at the dealer on Monday to hopefully make some progress.

Dealer had informed me that the problem is fixed. We left on 5/3/08 for a 5 week trip from Michigan to Utah. The satellite receiver is unable to keep the satellite. Monday, the rig will get back to the dealer.
