Refrigerator recall checkup

We were concerned about what might happen to our motor home over the Dometic problem! I drove over to a local RV repair service to have the unit inspected. This is required by Dometic before ordering the parts for recall repair.(After 4/16/07) Technician checked for a yellow substance in boiler area that would indicate a crack in the boiler. According to the service tech, Dometic is planning is replace the shield over and around the burner with a new designed one and wire in a "Heat Fuse"� into your 12 volt gas valve line. If a crack would appear later in the boiler; a fire could possibly result. The "Heat Fuse"� would shut off the propane and "contain the fire"� to the area back of the refrigerator. The recall is for fire containment and NOT defective boiler problems! Feel safe?

The recall was started because of fires in vehicles due to the tubes cracking due to the weight of the heating coil. There has been fires in recreational vehicles because of this
