Door magnet

We have a 2005 Fletwood Expedition. There is a door that closes between the living area and the back half of the motorhome. It also closes off the toilet area. One side has a screw in the middle and the other half is just on the wall. The solid surface magnet is turning black and gets on our hands and clothes. We want to replace. Is it just glued on the wall? Our new ones both screw in but we dread trying to take the old one off, we don't want to tear up the wall. Thanks

Gary and Cindy Smith.

Sand it off a bit, and paint it. But if it is just a metal piece, why is it turning black, and coming off??

But I reread... You said it is the magnet that is the problem. Same solution, probably what has happened is that the magnet is covered in some magnetic dust that is brushing off on you. Just clean it good.

I put some thin felt over mine, kept it from making a loud thump and still holds.
