Economy Mode or not
When you're pulling do you pull in Economy Mode or Regular Mode?

Economy mode about 90% of the time, even when towing the '05 Odyssey and it's fairly heavy at 4,400#'s factory weight.

Same as Mr_D, economy mode till the base of a hill, then regular, or manual downshift to keep the RPM & power, up and temps down.
More on page 15 of this pdf. file.

Good question. I've been wondering about that myself. I do regular, but I don't use 6th gear unless I'm in a very flat area. I've found with my rig 6th is to steep and 5th keeps me in the power band better. Picked up a little extra in the MPG doing that.
I may try Econo and 5th see where that gos.

Econ Mode is strictly for use in rolling hill terrain, not for mountain grades and it has no benefit on flat terrain that you will find in the mid-west.
When my Allison is in Econ Mode the downshift point is moved lower by 200 rpm's meaning that it will not downshift and up-shift frequently in rolling hills. It will stay in 6th gear longer by 200 rpms.
If in mountain terrain, it's best to turn the Econ Mode off as you want the rpms' to be high enough to maintain proper HP torque for climbing and keeping the engine cool.
Some coaches have had their Allison's programmed to be in Econ Mode by default and then when the button is pushed it is now in Performance Mode. Not sure which ones are like that but I remember reading about it on a thread sometime back.
