We had a fireplace already in our Bounder we bought in January. We would not have ordered it but its the best thing ever now that we own it. It's built-in, supplies heat and look amazing when it's running. I don't recall the brand but it's a great solution vs. previously when we used a portable heater. If you do go with the portable then the ceramic seems the safest from what I know. I'd try to find a safe, quiet one that is small because as the one post said, the heat output is the same regardless of the technology.
