Electric hot water switch on 2001 expedition

If someone out there has a 01 expedition and could please tell me where the on/off 12 volt switch is located for the electrical side of the water heater I would be grateful. I know the one for the gas side is located over the driver Sun visor. And I know about the two 110 v ones near the sink but were is the 12 v one that brings power to the board. Iam lost
Or a brief description of how your water heater works would help
Thanks
Richard

Welcome to IRV2. Here is an Atwood Manual ( not sure yours is an Atwood )

Here also is a link to a previous thread.

There isn't a switch for the 12volt but there is a fuse that you'll have to do some testing for.
Good luck and update us when you can.
Cliff

Not an Expedition but ours is located under the lip of the kitchen counter and above the drawers.

Sorry , but I have to ask again , 12 volt switch ? Everything I could find makes no mention of a switch but rather a fuse.

It is very rare to switch the 12v power to the heater circuit board, but it is always protected by a fuse. I don't know where the "house' 12v fuses are on a 2001 Expedition, though. They are usually togrther in one lace. however.

How it works: the circuit board must always have 12v power in order to work, but basically that handles gas igniton and gas supply. The circuit board turns on/off the gas supply and operates the igniter in response to the thermostat demand. In electric mode, the heat is supplied via a 1400 watt electric heating element and the thermostat controls when the 120v power is applied to the element. The heater can operate in gas-only mode, electric-only mode, or gas and electric simultaneously. There are differences in the details depending on ear and model of heater, but that's the basics for an gas/electric heater with electronic ignition. Pilot and pilot re-light models are somewhat different, but you don't have that type in your Expedition.

The 12 volt switch is the one above the pass visor. I haven't found any others and mine works with gas turning on this switch. You may have a 12v feed problem?
