electric outlets in bay '04 Discovery
We have a 2004 Fleetwood Discovery that has an electric outlet in one of the bays on the passengers side. The outlet is right beside a light. Neither one of them work. I know it has to be a circuit breaker somewhere. I can't find what controls this plug and light. can anyone direct me to the right area? Please? Pretty Please?

you didn't mention if it doesn't work with convertor or shore power or gen set....as they may only work with shore or gen....

The light maybe hooked up to a master switch inside the coach called baggage compartment or utility lights. The plug should be independent of this switch (at least on mine) and maybe tied to a GFCI plug inside the coach. I had a GFCI plug go bad and it drove me crazy trying to trace it back. I would think if it was a breaker you would have other items not working as well.

The outlet will be a 120VAC outlet and the light will be a 12VDC light so there's little chance that they are controlled by a single breaker, although it's not impossible - the AC outlet COULD be on the same circuit as your converter, but then none of the 12VDC lighting would be working. So, here's my thoughts:
The 120VAC outlet is connected to a GFCI outlet somewhere, and that has possibly tripped. All outlets that are near water - kitchen counter area, bathroom, outside - are required to be protected via GFCI. So, look for that outlet and make sure it's working.
The 12VDC light is possibly controlled via a switch near your entry door, or on the dash somewhere. Once that switch is turned on, then the switch at the light should work, assuming the bulb is good.

ah ha..... thank you very much for the light tip, solved that problem. It was a switch in door area (actually solved 2 problems, I wondered what that switch was for) and GFCI was not tripped so still looking to solve the outlet problem.

You may have 2 120V outlets in the bay. We do, and one of the is a GFCI. When ours is tripped none of our outside 120V outlets will operate.

My Providence has a luggage/service light in every bay including genset and engine/radiator
access. Those are 12v lights. They require that you put the switch for "luggage" or "utility"
in the on position. They once puzzled me as well. Actually it's good because they won't be left on inadvertantly without the interior switch in the MH alerting you.
The plugs are 110v....therefore on different system. All exterior receptacles are GFI protected.
Check if the receptacle is of that type and reset it. If not, check all receptacles inside. I have several GFI's inside and the one(s) outside may be wired down line from one of those. I have a Spartan Mountain Master chassis...Good luck...

both my cargo aria plugs are protected by a gfci located on the fwd bedroom wall below the light switch. Not much room to see but its there. The gfci in the bath protects the outlets in the kitchen. Hopes this helps
