I have an electrical issue with my 2006 Discovery.
#1 When you turn the ignition key to the start position all power is killed to the coach. You have to reset the main and auxilary battery switch for any power to reset.
#2 I started the generator and then went to start the coach and all power was turned off and the generator was killed. After starting the coach and going to reset the batteries the main battery reset, however, the auxilary batteries would not set with the switch. I have no DC power. I am plugged into 50 amp, however, due to the DC switching issue will not allow the furnaces to operate, or the refrigerator to operate on AC or Gas, no lighting is functional. My 120 volt outlets are operational.

Any advice will be appreciated!

That's a strange one. Sounds like the starter switch is somehow shorting the house system (and it really shouldn't even be connected to it) or perhaps the chassis batteries are dead and the house power is being sucked in to power up the chassis.

What year, make and model coach is it? gas, diesel, and other particulars would help too.

By the way, welcome to RV Forum - wish you were able to visit here your first time without such a serious problem!

Thanks for your response!
Part of the issue is resolved and has restored the 06 Discovery to where I have been for about a year. We replaced C17 7.5 amp fuse and it has me restored for the time being. It appears that this was an issue before and the wiring from the BCC to the solenoid has been cut ....... thus limiting the merging of both battery banks. Right now I am back to where all is functional, however, it is still that when you turn the ignition to the power position it cuts everything out, and then you have to engage the batteries in the control panel. Works for now...... but a little on the irritating side.

Thanks for the response!

You can find a BCC service manual on the Intelletec web site. There are several models, so hunt up the one that matches yours. All are very similar, though.

I'm thinking you may have a bad solenoid in the BCC, permanently cross connecting the house and chassis systems.

Go to the Intellitec site and click on their Technical support pages and access their "Manual Pages".

The second item down is something called an "Automatic Battery Reconnect". This module was developed in 2003 to do exactly the opposite of what you say is happening. It is designed to reconnect your batteries (both house and chassis) when the ignition switch Relay picks.

Print the one page installation instructions and use it to trouble shoot your system.

My guess is that this unit is failing or is installed incorrectly. I would unplug (uninstall) it and check for loose or corroded connections. You can either leave it off (by reversing the install procedure) or reconnect and test.

Thanks for the advice! I will get it checked out. I put a call into RV Customer Products, however, I haven't connected with them yet to get the schematic on their BCC box.

Will post what I find out.

Happy New Years to all!

I can give you the RV Custom Products schematic, but it doesn't show enough detail for trouble shooting purposes. I assumed since your rig was a 2006 that you had the Intellitec box.

RV Custom may be able to give you some trouble shooting tips though. Please share with us what they say.

The RV CP version of this same fix is essentially a group of diodes to unlatch the disconnect solenoids when the ignition switch is made.
